Allison Schmidt, Marketing Manager

Allison grew up in the Chicago suburbs and moved to the Big Easy in 2014. Allison attended Illinois State University and graduated with her Bachelors in Marketing in May of 2014. During her college years, she had a longstanding marketing internship with COUNTRY Financial, a locally based insurance company. She learned a lot about the creation of advertisements as well as event-based marketing efforts.

After college, Allison started her freelance writing career and really fell in love with the copywriting side of marketing. Today, Allison is the Marketing Manager and has been with Get Online NOLA for just over a year!

A: Passionate, community, dedicated.

What is your favorite social media platform(s)?

A: Instagram all the way!

If you could do another job just for one day, what would it be?

A: Private chef! I love cooking super-elaborate meals, but definitely couldn’t keep up with the demands of cooking for a huge crowd at a restaurant.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned in the last five years?

A: If you’re going to do something, really go for it! The worst thing that could happen is you learn something.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working? Hobbies?

A: I enjoy reading and crafting, my hobby du jour is weaving.

What is your favorite marketing-related podcast?

A: The Paid Search Podcast.

What are your New Orleans favorites: Food? Activity? Places? Parade? Festival?

A: Really good red beans, and Vietnamese food! I love all of the festivals and activities going on all the time. I like the smaller, low-key parades, Krewe Boheme was great this year! I’m on board for pretty much any festival around food but my all time favorite is NOLA on Tap, a festival dedicated to adoptable dogs and beer.

Kristal Terrell, Marketing Assistant

Kristal was born & raised in Metairie, LA. She graduated in May 2018 with her Bachelors in Marketing from Southeastern Louisiana University. During her time at SLU, Kristal interned at the House of Blues in New Orleans. She also had the chance to gain real-world experience by working with local businesses in Hammond thanks to the College of Business. Those experiences solidified my decision to pursue marketing.

Today, Kristal is the Marketing Assistant at Get Online NOLA. She joined the team in September 2018.

K: Innovative, local, and collaborative.

What is your favorite social media platform(s)?

K: It’s a tie for me between Instagram or Twitter!

If you could do another job just for one day, what would it be?

K: Definitely a social media manager for an artist on tour! I love live music and social media so it would be the best of both worlds!

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working? Hobbies?

K: In my spare time I enjoy attending concerts & music festivals and running my blog, NOLA Concerts.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned in the last five years?

K: One time Scooter Braun told me, “All you’ll find out is at the other side of risk, the worst thing is failure and that’s okay because you get another day to try again.” That’s some of the best advice I’ve gotten. It’s okay to make mistakes and take risks. Learn from them and try again.

What is your favorite marketing-related blog?

K: Later.com

What are your New Orleans favorites: Food? Activity? Places? Parade? Festival?

K: Seafood gumbo, no matter what the weather! I enjoy grabbing a dose of caffeine at a local coffee shop with friends, gotta support local businesses! My favorite festival is Jazz Fest: the crawfish beignets, the strawberry lemonade, and the music. It’s a family tradition to watch Endymion, they have some of the best catches and you never leave empty-handed.
